Part III - The West Side
The buildings were concentrated in two main areas, divided by a small hill, with a walking trail between them. I started my exploration on the eastern side of the hill, and didn't get to the western side until my second visit. A solitary house stood on the western hillside, some distance from the other buildings. It looked to be in unusually good condition, and there were vegetables growing on the hilltop nearby. I thought that this house might still be occupied, either by its rightful owner or a squatter, so I kept my distance.
The western side of the neighbourhood had a similar mix of buildings to the eastern side. One fairly large, modern house was high up on a hillside, at the top of a long flight of concrete steps. Delivering or removing furniture and appliances must have been an arduous task. Perhaps for this reason, most of the furniture and contents had been left behind. Strangely, I even saw some insurance receipts and a bankbook from the 1980's. I won't show any photographs of these, since they contain private information on someone who may still be living.
